Durham City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, attracting visitors from all over the world throughout the year.  The City is dominated by the stunning and historic cathedral which is surrounded by ancient bridges and river walks.  During the spring and summer you can hire a rowing boat to get a unique perspective of the City and the River Wear.

The City offers various leisure facilities from the Gala theatre and cinema complex to the Botanic Gardens. If shopping is your preferred leisure pastime then Durham is well equipped with independent designer shops and all the well known high street names within the city's two shopping centres - The Gates and The Prince Bishops.
